Avatar: The Way Of water- A Pure Cinematic Masterpiece.

After 13 years of waiting Avatar 2 has finally arrived in theatres and it did not disappoint. everything in this film is movies at its best from the visuals, acting and action. This is a must see on the big screen, so if you don’t have tickets get them now because this is an experience you don’t want to miss.

I enjoyed the first Avatar but was never a massive fan of it. I think the biggest advantage to this franchise is seeing it on the big screen and I never saw the first one in a cinema, I actually only watched it for the first time last year on Disney Plus. I was intrigued to see this new film but I wasn’t overly excited but the experience was everything you could want and more.

Starting with the visuals of this film. You have never see a film look this good before, not even the trailers do it justice. The environments look so real you would think James Cameron flew to Pandora and filmed i there. The water scenes especially;at look outstanding and you can see why they decided to film under water as the effect that has is magnificent. The biggest achievement VFX wise of this film is of course the Navi themselves. All the way from the way they move to their facial expressions, they feel alive thanks to do amazing work from the VFX team and I of course the amazing work from the actors. While watching this film there is no doubt that you will believe they are real and not VFX aliens.

Moving onto the performances in this movie. Everyone does a fantastic job here, especially with the face acting which comes through perfectly on the Navi faces. However there are two standout performances in this film and that is Zoe Saldana as Neytiri and Britain Dalton as their youngest son Lo’ak. Zoe Saldana gives some emotionally powerful performances in this film. This is the best i have seen her to date and makes me hope that her character has a larger film going forward as she felt slightly sidelined this time around so that they could focus on the farther son dynamic.

Now Avatar 2 introduces a lot of new characters to the franchisee, my favourite being Lo’ak. The whole story of him feeling inadequate for his family and bonding with the Tulkin make for an incredibly moving story. This is supported by the great perforce of Britain Dalton who is able to sell every emotional beat.

You many have heard that the story is basically the same as the first film and in some aspects that is right, as when you simplify it the humans are back for pandora and the Navi have to protect their home. However this film is much more complex then the first. This is as it deals with the hunting of Tulkin in the i ocean and has a much stronger family dynamic and how family’s come in all different shapes and seizes. Also with the addition of the new characters it makes the film feel larger and has more depth to it.

Overall Avatar 2 isn’t just a film but a cinematic experience that I highly recommend you experience. Yes your will be able to stream it on Disney Plus later down the line, but you won’t get the seam experience that you will get in a theater. This is a must see.
