It was confirmed earlier today that the ninth season of The Flash will be its last. It will consist of 13 episodes that are due to air sometime in 2023.
This isn’t a big surprise as there have been rumours about the show ending for a while, plus the fact that The Cw has been sold and is changing up its programming slate.
The Flash was the last remaining show in the arrowverse after both Batgirl and Legends of Tomorrow was unceremoniously canceled earlier this year. It was also confirmed that Superman and Louis takes place in a different t universe and I suspect that will move to HBO Max.
This means not only will 2023 bring the end of the Flash, but the end of the arrowverse which has been around for a decade. Even though it is time for the Flash to end it is quite sad to know that this universe will be done by next year.
It will be interesting to see how they end the Flash and if it links to any of the other shows while warping up it’s story.
How do you feel about the Flash ending as-well as the arrowverse and are there any shows that you would like to see brought back in the future?
Dc League if Super Pets opened this weekend to little fanfare. It only made $23 in its opening weekend to become the 5th biggest opening for an animated movie during the pandemic era. This was expected to do better due to the fact it was a comic book movie and was led by an all star cast such as Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. We will have to see what the second weekend drop to see if people have decided to wait in this film for streaming but so far that seems the case.
Minions the Ruse of Gru took a stronger drop in its 5th weekend, most likely due to Super Pets, as it is another animated movie. It managed to bring in another $10.9 million domestic for a total of $320.4 domestic. At the global box office it crossed $700 million grossing another $25.3 million overseas, for a global total of $710.4 million.
Thor Love and Thunder crossed $300 million domestic in its 4th weekend after earning another $13.1 million, for a domestic total of $301.5 million. Overseas, it made another $20.8 million, for a global total of $662.4 million.
Elvis and Where the Crawdads Sing both had respectful holds as well, with Elvis bringing in another $5.8 million domestic for a total of $129 million. Where the Crawdads Sing also grossed a strong $7.5 million in its third weekend hitting $53.5 million domestic total.
Unfortunately for Jordan Peele, Nope had a really strong drop in its second weekend only bringing in $18.6 million. This is a much larger drop then both Get Out and Us, showing that Nope will most likely not make as much as his previous films. It currently holds a domestic total of $80.6 million.
Finally Top Gun Maverick still isn’t going anywhere as domestically it made another $8.2 in its 10th weekend. For a domestic total of $650.1 million. Internationally it gained another $13.8 million for a global total of $1.31 billion.
So what did you see this past weekend and how far day you think Top Gun Maverick can go?

After years of waiting we finally have an update on the Rick films. However it will no longer be a trilogy of films but instead a limited series and he will be joined by no other then Michonne herself!!!
Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira made a surprised appease at the end of The walking dead’s Hal H panel to announce the news. The show is described as a love story as Rick and Michonne try to find each other after years apart and in a whole new world.
The show is being described as a limited series and was changed from a movie as it is said a show gives them more time to tell the story. It is also set to conclude both Rick and Michonnes story. It is set to be released in 2023.
How excited are you for this show and how does it feel finally having an update?
Marvel Studios has just had its animation panel at San Diego Comic Con and made a lot of announcements.
They started off the panel with I Am Groot. This will be a series of shorts that revolve around Baby Groot. Bradley Cooper will return as Rocket raccoon in the series as well. This will debut on August 10 on Disney Plus.
They then moved onto to discuss SpiderMan Freshman Year. This will debut in 2024 on Disney Plus, but they did reveal some details about the show. First it was confirmed to have been renewed for a season 2, which will be titled Sophomore Year. It will also take place before the events of Civil War, so will be canon to the MCU. Characters announced to be appearing in the show will be Harry Osborn, Amadeus Cho and Nico Minuro. The villains that will be included in the series will be Doctor Octopus, Rhino, Scorpion and more. Charlie Cox will also make an appearance as Daredevil in this show.
They then moved onto talk about What If. They announced that season 2 will debut in early 2023 on Disney Plus and that they are already in development on a season 3. It was also revealed that the Captain Carter in Doctor Strange 2, was not the same one in What If. Season 2 will include stories such as Hella, Tony on Sakaar and Captain Carter and the Winter Soldier.
They then moved onto talk about Marvel Zombies. This will release in 2024 on Disney Plus and will be the first Marvel project to be rated Tv-MA. The show will include zombie characters such as Scarlet Witch, Captain America, Shang Chi, Yelena and more.
They then moved onto X-Men 97 and reeled the team line up with new additions such as Cable and Nightcrawler. They also revealed that Magneto will be the leader of the X-Men. The show will release in the fall of 2023 on Disney Plus and has also been renewed for a season 2.
It is being reported that Marvel Studios has trademarked 5 titles in Europe, which could show what titles they have coming down the pipeline.
The first title trademarked is Thunderbolts, this helps give these leaks legitimacy as it has already been announced that Marvel is working on a Thunderbolts theatrical film.
The next title listed is Captain America: New World Order. Now we know Captain America 4 is happening and this seem to confirm the title for the new movie. It also lines up with rumours that it will be a political film similar to that of Winter Soldier and Falcon and the winter soldier.
Another interesting Trademark is Multiverse Saga. Many people have been wondering what Phase 4 has been setting up and what new saga Marvel are trying to Develop. Well it seems this leak has given us that answer. This would make sense as Marvel seem to be diving more and more into the multiverse, so having this be known as the multiverse saga makes a lot of sense.
Now finally moving onto the big 2 titles and that is Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: Kang Dynasty. It has been rumoured for a while and Secret Wars is going to be the next big Avengers event and that now seem to be true. It also matches up with this being the Multiverse Saga as it is a war across the multiverse, meaning anyone from anything could show up. In addition it has been confirmed that the next big bad of the MCU is Kang, who was set up in Loki season 1 to have multiple variants. This could be a similar situation to a Infinity War and Endgame as a big two parted Avengers Event with Kang as the big bad setting the multiverse loose.
What do you think of these titles and which sounds the most exciting to you?
At the end of Ms Marvel Bruno tells Kamala that he found something special in her blood and said that she had a mutation. This seems to be clearly hinting at the fact that Kamala May in fact be a mutant. This is a big change from the comics as she is originally an inhuman.
In the comics the Inhuman’s were created due to the fact that Marvel no longer had the film rights to the X-Men and wanted an alternative they could use. However now Marvel Studios has those film rights back it has been up in the air what they will do with the Inhuman’s.
Well it looks like the finale of Ms Marvel gave us our answers as it seems that they may just be combining the two into one and referring to them all as mutants. Now this does actually make a lot of sense as it would make things a lot less complicated going forward in the MCU.
The Inhuman’s in the comics were never that popular in the first place, however they gained popularity in Agents of Shield, which is still my favourite marvel show to date. There have been a lot of questions going around to see if Agents of Shield is canon to the MCU or if it is in a variant timeline. However there are a lot of rumours going around that Chloe Bennet is returning to the MCU as Quake in Secret Invasion. A quick and easy way around the confusion is just to state that Inhuman’s are a faction of mutants that had their powers awoken first with the help of terrigen mist, just like Kamala’s bracelet helped her to use her own powers.
The Inhuman’s can easily become mutants as all they really would need to do is change their name, so it will be interesting to see how marvel handles this going forward.
Personally I don’t have a problem with Inhuman’s and mutants being combined, however I would still like to see Inhuman characters such as Quake, Black Bolt and Medusa in the MCU. I would also like to see Agents of Shield kept canon as it seems like they are doing the same with the defenders shows that were over on Netflix.
We have finally reached the end of Ms Marvel and what an ending that was. Ms Marvel managed to become my second favourite Disney plus show just behind Wandavison. I did not expect this show to be as good as it was, but it was just that good.
The reason this show works really well is down to Iman Vellani. She is just the perfect Ms Marvel as she is just so down to earth and relatable and just makes the character work really well. She is as perfect casting for Ms Marvel as Robert Downey Jr was for Iron Man.
Now let’s get onto the final episode which after a few slow episodes was really heavy on the action. First we had that big chase throughout the school and then the big action scene outside really showing Kamala power set off.
One thing I particularly loved about this episodes is how supportive her parents were of her actually becoming Ms Marvel. It was something really special to see how that relationship has evolved and it was nice to see that they knew Kamala was special and fit for this. I also loved the fact that her mom created her costume for her and then that her dad came up with her name. I do hope we get to see more of them along with the rest of the supporting cast as everyone in this show is great.
Talking about the future, the end credit scene was quite exciting and I wonder if The Marvels will pick up where this show ended. So obviously at the end Kamala’s bracelet plays up and then it seems she is transported somewhere and is then swapped with Captain Marvel herself. I’m not really sure how or why but it will be interesting to see how the bracelet fits into Captain Marvel and I’m very excited for the two to actually meet in The Marvels.
So, what did you think of the show over all and how excited are you for The Marvels next year.

There have been several snubs this year as well though, with no marvel show getting nominated, especially that of Moon Knight and Loki which had many speculating that they would be nominated. Also to note Selina Gomez has also not been nominated of though her other two co-stars have.
Who do you think should win and do you think anyone else has been snubbed this year?
Todays episode of Ms Marvel made me realise something that I have been thinking about for a while and that is the length of their seasons. This is as most Disney Plus seasons have 6 episodes that are all around 35-55 minutes. The problem with this is is that it feels like they aren’t giving themselves enough time do do everything they want to do.
For example in Ms Marvel they have spent 2 episodes now focusing on the past and the origin of the bracelet with very little action and instead it has been just a lot explaining. This wouldn’t be as bad if it wasn’t nearly half of the series but as there is only 6 episodes it slows down the show too much.
I had the same problem with Obi Wan where everything seemed to become slow in the middle of these season and then it wraps up very quickly at the end.
Stranger Things 4 shows how longer seasons and episodes benefit a story and that can in fact benefit the show. Disney Plus should follow in their footsteps as with more time to breathe these shows can be the best of the best and will in turn help the streaming service overall.
