Box Office: Wakanda Forever continues strong, Strange World falls off!!!

Black Panther Wakanda Forever is still going strong in its 4th weekend. It made another $17.6 million at the domestic box office while also adding an additional $20.2 million oversees. It’s domestic total currently stands at $393.7 million and should cross $400 by the end of next week. Whereas globally it passed $700 million and will most likely end up in the high $800 to low $900 million mark when all is said and done.

Universals and David Harbours new Christmas film Violent Night also opened this weekend grossing a nice $13.3 million. It’s not a massive opening but I’d did come in higher then industry projections and it will be key to see how this film performs over the Christmas period to judge if it will be successful or not.

However, talking about a film that’s not okay is Disneys Strange World. If you thought the opening weekend was bad then the second weekend is just dreadful. The film made only $4.9 million for a domestic total of $25 million. It is not doing any better globally either as it has only made $42.3 million worldwide and will most likely lose around $100 million. Expect this to be thrown on Disney Plus in the next few weeks never to be mentioned again.

Overall this was a slow weekend at the box office and will most likely stay this until Avatar the Way Of Water releases on December 16!!!!

Netflix Top 10: Wednesday breaks viewership record!!!

Netflix has released its viewing record for the week of November 21-27. And what a week it was for Netflix.

Starting with the biggest story, Wednesday officially debuted to the biggest opening for and English language series ever beating Stranger things 4 from earlier in the year. This is a big deal for Netflix as Stranger things is coming to an end so having a new flagship show would help them a lot. Wednesday has been met with both critical and audience acclaim., especially for the lead Jenna Ortega. Expect a renewal to be announced very soon most likely for multiple seasons and expect a lot of opportunities for the main cast to open up after this!!!

All previous series Dead to Me, 1989 and the crown are still doing string number still, with Dead to me and 1899 barely dipping below their debut hours viewed in their second week.

Manifest also still proves to be a good save for Netflix as three of the four seasons are in the top 10 with four still doing good numbers. Season 1 of Manifest is also still in the top 10 after 23 weeks, showing the strength of this series and how people are still beginning to discover the show. It will be interesting to see how big season 4 part 2 will be on the service some time next year.

However it’s not all good news for warrior nun fans as only after 3 weeks it’s nearly out of the top 10 with just over 11 million hours watched. This doesn’t bode well for a season 3 which fans are calling for in social media.

Now moving over to films, in its second week slumberland managed to take the number one spot however it’s numbers are still mediocre with only 45 million hours watched. Netflix’s Christmas movie of the week debuted to okay numbers at number 2 with over 36 million hours watched. In its third week falling for Christmas is still holding on at number 5. Also Enola Holmes 2 is still doing well in its fourth weekend, expect an announcement for a third film.

That’s it for this week, so what did you watch this week on Netflix?

The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special- An instant Christmas Classic!!!

The long awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday special is here and it does not disappoint. James Gunn once again proves that he sit he one to beat by weaving in an emotional through point mixed in with over the top comedy.

The whole special is about Mantis wanting Peter to have a perfect Christmas as she is hiding the fact that he is her brother. This makes her want to get home the best Christmas present ever, so her and Drax set off to earth to get Kevin Bacon.

Pom Klementieff and Dave Bautista continue to show their amazing chemistry together as Mantis and Drax just bounce off each other and their every interaction just leaves a great big smile on your face.

However, this special does belong Pom Klementieff who just does an outstanding role as Mantis. If you didn’t love this character before then after you watch this speacial she will defiantly be one of your favourite guardians. I have really enjoyed Pom Klementieff as Mathis in the previous films but here she just takes the character to a new level and I’m very excited to see what James Gunn has planned for her in volume 3.

Also as this is a James Gunn project one thing you can believe is spot on is the soundtrack. Every song here fits exactly what is going on in the scene at the time and that opening song is absolutely hilarious.

This special is defiantly going to become a Christmas classic to watch every year and is by far one of their best projects Disney Plus has put out so far.

Netflix Top 10- 1899 debuts strong in the weekly charts!!!!

Netflix has release its weekly viewing numbers for the week of November 14-20.

In English language TV shows The crown kept first place with 84 million minutes watched. This is strong performance but nit as strong as season 4 brought in which shows that some of the conga rise surrounding this latest season may have put a few people off. The highly anticipated 1899 series also released a debuted at a strong number 2 with over 79 million minutes watched. This is especially good for this type of shows as it is a mixed language shows and really shows the lengths that have been made in foreign content all over the world.

Dead to Me premiered with softer numbers with just over 30 million hours watched, however this is most likely due to the fact that it’s episodes are only around 30 minutes whereas the other shows above it average around an hour an episode.

Now moving over to films. In its second week on the service Falling for Christmas managed to score number 1 with over 37 million minutes watched. This is promising for Lindsey Lohan who is trying to make a comeback. If these numbers keep up she will most likely be getting more deal coming down the pipeline. However the opposite can be said for Jason Momoa as his film Slumberland was much more expensive and only debuted with 33 million minutes. The key with this film will be if it can gain minutes in its second week.

Netflix’s newest Christmas movie of the week also had a much softer debut with only 17 million minutes. Enola Homes is also still doing good in its third week with another 21 million minutes. I would keep an eye out for an announcement in the next few weeks regarding a third film.

That’s its for Netflix’s Top 10 this week. What did you watch?

The Walking Dead Universe Future!!!

With The Walking Dead coming to an end after 11 seasons, it’s time to look to the future to see what lies ahead for the expanded universe of The Walking Dead.

Fear The Walking Dead Season 8:

Well the first project we can look ahead at is the first spin-off to come out of this universe. Season 8 of fear has been filming for several months now and is expected to release early next year. Obviously season 8 brings the return of Maddison Clarke who we saw in the finale of season 7, as she teams up with Morgan Jones to take down Padre. The show runners have promised a big shake up this season with production moving to Georgia and having the ordinal lead return. The question is how much longer this spinoff will continue to live on for now we are entering a new era of the universe.

The Walking Dead: Dead City

One of the newest spin-offs is Dead City. This show will follow Maggie and Negan as they go to Manhattan for some unknown reason. In the finale of The Walking Dead Maggie said that there was still a lot out there and it was their job to find out what it was. This could set up Maggie going to find out what has happened in Manhattan and her finding trouble. Also in the finale Maggie said she could forgive Negan but didn’t want to hate him anymore. Negan also feels like he needs to protect Maggie as he took Glenn and now regrets it. This could explain why he goes with her as he feels it’s his duty to protect her. This show is set to premier in April 2023.

The Walling Dead: Daryl Dixon

The most controversial show out of all of the spin-offs announced is the Daryl show. This is as it was originally meant to be a joint show with Mellisa Mcbride’s Carol, but for unknown reasons she dropped out. The Daryl show is going to take place in Paris with Daryl somehow ending their while he is on a search for Rick and Michonne. Not much else is known about this as it has only been shooting for few weeks and the big question is how the hell did Daryl end up in Paris in the first place. However both Reedus and Mcbride have teased the continuation of Daryl and Carols story together so it is safe to see we will see Daryl and Carol cross paths again at some point. It is expected to air in the summer of 2023.

The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne

This is the spin-off most people are excited about. It sees the return of Rick Grimes and Michonne who have been vacant on the show for a while. In the last scenes of The Walking Dead finale it’s showed Rick desperately trying to get back to his family and Michonne on her way to find him. This has been described as an epic love story as they fight to be reunited with each other. The show is expected to start production in early 2023 and air in the fall of 2023.

These are the spin-off shows in development right now but don’t be surprised if more come in the future. Tales of The Walking Dead aired it first season this summer but no news has been given regarding a season 2 yet.

Are you going to stick with The Walkingd Dead Universe and watch the spin-offs or have you called it quits after the finale of The Walking Dead?

Nielsen Top 10: Thor Love and Thunder debuts at No 1 and House of the Dragon catches up to Rings of Power.

The Nielsen top 10 has been released for the week of September 5-11.

Starting with movies Thor love and thunder debuted on Disney Plus this week for Disney plus day and shot to number 1 with 1500 million minutes . This is a win for the film after its mixed reception and lesser box office then Ragnorok. This shows that plenty of people still checked into the film once it hit the streaming service.

Speaking of Disney Plus day an Disney original movie also hit he streaming service that day and also debuted with string numbers for that service. Pinocchio came in second on the chart with 930 million minutes for the film. This is very good fir the film considering it was hit with negative reviews from critics and didn’t have very good word of mouth from audiences. This shows that no matter the reviews family’s are still willing to check out Disney’s live action remakes.

For the rest of the top 10, Morbius did okay numbers debuting at number 3 with 610 million minutes and Elvis in its second weekend on HBO max also stayed steady in the middle of the pack with 400 million minutes watched.

Moving over to the originals Cobra Kai jumped to the number 1 spot on the chat with its fifth season debuting with 1737 million minutes, showing that this series is still going strong and shows why Sony wants to capitalise on this with a new karate Kid film. With its third episode Rings of Power fell to third place but still has very strong numbers, which explains why amazon have already gone into production on season 2.

Also with its fourth episode She Hulk has gone up again on the charts and now sits comfortably at number 5 on the charts with 493 million minutes. It will be very interesting to see where the most recent episode will land as it reintroduced Daredevil into the MCU. The crown also popped into the top 10 at number 7, with the announcement of the Queen’s death.

Finally looking at the acquired series, House of the Dragon shot to number 1 with its 4th episode, clocking in at 1016 million minutes. This has brought it very close to the rings of power. However the advantage HOTD has is that this list only covers the views on HBO Max and not the viewers that watch through HBO, so we don’t actually get a full picture of the amount of viewers the show has through this list.

SheHulk Premier review- Bring on the Hulks!

SheHulk premiered today with its first episode and brings a new taste to the MCU with its first proper 30 minute style comedy. This style of TV fits in very well with this character in particular as she breaks the fourth wall and talks with the audience. This adds a unique layer to the show as it helps it stand out from the rest of the Disney Plus shows.

Tatiana Maslany is another win for Marvel in the casting department as she is a perfect fit as Jenifer Walters, aka the SheHulk. She is espy lay good at the comedy aspect and brings a certain sass to the SheHulk character which makes her different enough to Hulk so she seems like her own separate character. Also her and Mark Ruffalo have the perfect chemistry together and it genuinely seems that they are related.

Now the VFX has been a strong talking point for this show, not just for how SheHulk looks but the controversy Marvel has come under as a whole. However, the majority of the CG in the first episode is actually really quite good and doesn’t stand out at all. She looks as good as the Hulk does. Plus even when it does look wonky from time to time Tatiana Maslanys performance is that good you don’t really notice it.

It was also interesting to dive into the Hulk world more as well as we haven’t been able to do that due to the film rights. This also had nice ties into the wider MCU with defences to both Tony and Steve, the latter being very fun.

Overall I was very pleasantly surprised with their first episode and am excited to see what else this show has in store for us and am interested in what the overall story will be as this was mainly an origin episode.

Box Office- Bullet Train opens respectfully, Jurassic World Dominion passes Doctor Strange 2

Bullet Train has pulled up at the multiplex and in its first weekend produced respectable results . Domestically it brought in $30.1 million which is where it was expected to come. This is as it received a B+ cinema score and also debuted with mixed reviews. However it did over perform slightly internationally as it made $32.4 million. This is also doing very similar business to The Lost City which released earlier in the year and also stared Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock. Globally in its first weekend it has made a total of $62.5 million.

In its 11th weekend Top Gun Maverick is still doing amazing business at the box office. Domestically it pulled in another $7 million bring the domestic total to $662.5 million surpassing Titanic to become the 7th biggest film of all time domestically. Oversees the film earned another $10.3 million bringing the international total to $690 million and globally it has now made $1.35 billion beating films such as The Last Jedi and Black Panther. It currently stands at 13 of highest grossing film of all time globally.

Elvis has crossed $250 million globally and made $136.5 domestically. Finally Dc Super Pets dropped 37% in its second weekend earning $11.4 million domestic and having a global total of $83.4 million.

Warner Brothers Discovery- HBO Max and Discover Max combining

In Warner Brothers Discovery Q2 Report today they announced that HBO Max and Discovery Plus will be combined into one mega streaming service.

This new combined staring service will launch in the summer of 2023, in the USA and will continue to expand to later markets in the coming future.

Timeline of release.

According to Warner Bros Discovery these two steaming services targets different types of audiences so by combining them will generate the, more subscribers.

Not much other details were given about the service, such as what it will be called.

Warner Brothers Discovery has made the stupid decision to scrap Batgirl

It has just been revealed by the New York post, that Batgirl will no longer be released on HBO Max or theatrically. The movie cost around $90 million to make and was already completed and ready to be released on HBO Max later this year. Apparently the reason for this is that it doesn’t fit in with the new direction of DC.

There is no reason whatsoever to scrap this film as it wouldn’t cost them anything to drop the film on HBO Max, so it is very disappointing to know that this slim will never see the light of day. This is also a worrying trend with DC recently as they also cancelled Batwoman andLegends of Tomorrow, which both had female leads. Whereas The Flash got to one more season to end.

This is also so unfair on everyone who worked so hard on this project so to scrap it completely makes absolutely no sense.

What do you think of Batgirl being scrapped and would you like to see it?
