Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves Review- A fun fantasy film for all the family!!!

I’ve just come out of seeing Dungeons and Dragons and what a fun move it is. It reminds me of the fun classic adventure films that used to be poured out before the comic book craze.

Now I don’t know much about the game so i went into this with fresh eyes. I had an absolute blast with this film from start to finish. The action scenes were great and the characters were a lot of fun. My favourite by far was Chris Pines Edgin who has some great moments and is the heart of this story. I especially loved when he starts to sing in this movie as my audience couldn’t stop laughing.

Chris Pine and Michele Rodriguez was a due I never knew I needed. Their chemistry together is off the charts and they just bounce off each other. Every time they were together it was just radiating fun. I also loved that they kept them in a platonic relationship as it’s rare that they have a strong friendship between men and women on screen.

The whole cast was great though. Justice Smith was in his wheelhouse as he always excels at playing this quirky, awkward character. I loved how his character evolved with his powers over the movie but still kept that awkward quality to him. Sophia Lillies also did a great job as Doric and seeing her transform into all the different creatures is great as well.

Hugh Grant is also very good as per usual and is a great antagonist for our hero’s to go up against. Also Regé Jean Page has a smaller role in this film but does a great job with what he is given.

Speaking of the transformations, the VFX in this film were amazing. This movie cost around $150 million to produce and the fact it looked this good was impressive. This shows that studios don’t need to spend $200 million or more to make these movies. It also clearly shows that Marvel need to get their VFX in order as their movies cost a lot more and still don’t look as good as this.

I also wanted to give a shout-out to the directors of this film John Francis Daily and Johnathan Goldstein. They could of just done a bland fantasy movie that we have seen several times, however they made this was exciting and managed to balance the comedic moments and the more serious moments perfectly. They also did a great job with all the action scenes and with their work in this movie they would be a great fit to join the MCU.

Overall, I had an absolute great time with this film. It hilarious while also being chick full of action and introduces us to some great characters. I would highly recommend watching this film as soon as possible.

Murder Mystery 2: Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler bring the fun!!!

Four years later and the sequel to Murder Mystery has finally arrived on Netflix. The sequel picks up a few years after the first one and finds Audrey and Nick are trying to become their own detectives when they get roped into another murder scheme, when the Maharajah is kidnapped.

I must say the mystery in this film is better then the first and there are quite a few twists and turns that I must say I didn’t see coming. That said with the likes of Knives Out it’s very hard to watch a Murder Mystery without it being up to that quality.

The special ingredient that makes this film work is obviously the chemistry between Jenifer Anniston and Adam Sandler. They are absolutely great together and are just the perfect comedic paring. The fact they have known each other so long really helps to sell the bind they have on screen together and they are what makes this move such a good time.

This film also had a lot of frat locations, especially in Paris as it’s just beautiful. It was also nice swing Paris after just watching John Wick 4 and also seeing him cause absolute carnage in Paris as well.

There were certain scenes here that just stood out as being absolutely hilarious. The first one being just after the murder and all of the suspects keep entering Audrey and Nicks room and they have to keep finding them different places to hide. The way Jennifer and Adam played this was great and just seeing Nick keep having to block and unblock the door was hilarious. Another of my favourite scenes was when when they were in the van in Paris and just causing absolute chaos, from trying to fight the kidnappers to driving the van all over Paris, it was just a lot of fun.

Overall this is a fun sequel that raises the stakes from the first film and with Jenifer Anniston and Adam Sandler front and centre you know you are in for a fun time.

Nielsen Charts: The Mandalorian starts strong, while Outer Banks continues to dominate!!!

The Nielsen charts for the week of February 27- March 5 are here and there is a lot to discuss.

The Mandalorian debuted within this week and started off strong coming in third on the original chart and fifth overall. This is a strong start considering it only released with one episode at around 40 minutes. There has been a lot of negative talk going around about unit this season, with people claiming that no one is watching. Now I do feel there isn’t as much talk around this season there clearly is still an audience as peole are in fact watching this show still. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the show performs in the coming weeks.

Outer Banks continues to show its importance to Netflix as in season threes second week there is still over 2000 million minutes viewed, which shows how popular the show is over all with a lot of peole just binging all of the seasons. This explains why Netflix gave this show an early renewal as a way of not having the wait for the next season be as long as the wait for season 3 was.

Paramount Plus also had a win here this week as their Yellowstone spinoff 1923 managed to make it into the overall chart, which makes it the first original of theirs to make it to this chart as Yellowstone it self comes from the Paramount network. This clearly explains why Paramount is expanding this universe fast and shows that they can have a successful Yellowstone show without Kevin Costner.

The Last Of Us continues to do incredibly strong on HBO Max with its eight episode and if I were HBO I would try and get season 2 fast tracked as quick as possible because these massive waits or these shows are getting ridiculous. Especially as it sounds we may not even get season 2 until 2025. Networks and streamers need to be trying to get these seasons out faster as there is a lot of content and you don’t want your show being left behind.

Now as per usual the movie numbers aren’t as strong as the TV side however Netflix’s We Have A Ghost premiered at the top of the chart with strong numbers. A magic Mike film also popped into the top 5 as people got ready for the new one that just hit theatres at the time.

Also to note is the first Hunger Games has made it it to the top 20 as they were just added to Netflix and have been doing good numbers on their own charts. Lionsgate has confirmed that the reason the films were added back to Netflix was to build up hype and conversation around the brand to get people excited for the prequel that is set to release in November and clearly that is working.

That’s it for the Nielsen charts this week, what did you watch and how do you feel about having to wait years for another season of a show?

The Mandalorian Season 3 Ep 5 Breakdown: An Action packed ride!!!

We are now over halfway through the season and we finally have a proper direction in where this show is now going.

The main focus on this episode is that Nivaro is being attacked by the pirates from the first episode of the season. Grief Cargo sends a message to the New Republic to ask for their help. Captain Carson receives the message and is looking for a way to help. However this episodes highlights just how incompetent the New Republic are and explains why the First Order was able to grow so fast. They completely ignore planets that need help and instead for some reason listen to Katy O Brian’s ex imperial officer instead of one of their own captains.

Although one thing I wanted to mention that is lined to Captain Carson is that in the bar where he receives the message we get to see Zeb in live action!!! In case you didn’t watch Star Wars Rebels Zeb is one of the main characters from that show and this gives me hope we are going to see a lot more of the gang in the upcoming Ahsoka show.

The rest of this episode is that Mandalorians taking back Nivaro, with some cool action scenes from the sky and on the ground. The Mandalorian ground fights did make me want to play a Mandalorian led video games as I feel that would be a lot of fun. The Armourer in particular had a great action scene when she came in behind the pirates and took them all out with her hammers.

This episode ended with the Armouer explaining to Bo Katan that the only way to get Mandalore back is with all the Mandalorians United and that the person to do that is Bo. This means that she is now allowed to take her helmet off and she has become the de facto leader of the Mandalorians which is what she has always wanted. I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of tension caused between Din and Bo now she has taken this leading position.

Finally we saw Captain Carson discover the ship that Mof Gideon was on and found that he did in fact escape. However it has been made to seem that the Mandalorians are the ones that helped him escape. I actually feel that it was Katy O Brian’s character that helped him to escape and she is working with him to frame the Mandalorians so that they can get Grogu back.

That’s it for this weeks episode, what did you think of it?

Netflix Charts: The Night Agent Debuts strong!!!

The Netflix ratings are here for the week of March 20-26 and there is a lot to discuss.

Starting with the TV side of things, The Night Agent debuted this week and performed exceptionally well, especially for a new Tv series with little star power. It was watched for over 168 hours in the first few days. It’s a very good binge as it has a great hook and mystery, so makes sense why it has caught on. It has become the third biggest premier for an first series in the service. I would love to see a second season and those numbers are very promising.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 hung on at number 2 with 55 million hours watched, however I don’t have super high hopes for a third season as it is a very expensive show and is doing amazing numbers on the service. One of the problems I have seen with this show is that it took to long for season 2 to arrive and that people have moved on from it.

For the rest of the chart both You Season 4 and Outer Banks Season 3 are continuing to do well and both have been renewed for another season each.

Now moving onto the film side, Luther managed to hold onto number one and due to its solid numbers I wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix did more with that brand. Also the first Murder Mystery popped into the top 10 as people get ready for the sequel that drops on Friday. However one thing I have noticed with streaming films lately is that now audiences have gone back to the theatre, less people seem to be watching these movies on streaming as they used to be getting a lot bigger numbers.

That’s it for this weeks Netflix charts, did you watch The Night Agent and if not go and watch it.

Box Office Report: John Wick 4 sets new records and Shazam 2 continues to disappoint!!!!

The box office report for the past week is here and there is a lot to discuss.

John Wick Chapter 4 opened this past weekend and set a new franchise record for its openings. It managed to crush expectations and opened to a massive $73.5 million at the domestic box office, which is a new high for the franchise. It’s also become the biggest R rated opening for the post COVID era. The film also managed to break records over seas as well as it brought in a big $64 million for a worldwide total of $137.5 million. This bodes very well for the series as they are planning multiple spin-offs for this series and clearly people are interested in this franchise now more then ever.

However the same can’t be said for DC films. This is as Shazam Fury Of the Gods didn’t stand a chance against MR Wick as it fell a massive 67.7% in its second weekend. It only brought in a small $9.7 Million for a domestic total of an embarrassing $46.3 million. The international market won’t save this film either as it only made $12.1 million for a $102.4 million. It’s a shame this film has flopped as its a very fun film, however I don’t think Zachery Levi basically begging people online to see the movie did it any favours. Warner Brothers Discovery better hope their future movies this year have audiences more interested otherwise it could be a disastrous year for the company and the brand overall.

Scream 6 is till doing good in its third weekend as it brought another $8.4 million in and has now surpassed the domestic total of last years Scream for a total of $89.9 million. It is expected to pass $100 million domestic something that hasn’t been achieved by the franchise since Scream 2.

Creed 3 is another long running brand that is also doing very well this year as in its fourth weekend it made another $8.4 million domestic and $5.4 million overseas. It now has a worldwide total of $245.9 Million. It comes out on digital this coming weeks so we will have to see how that will affect the box office for next weekend.

That’s it for the box office this week, did you go and see John Wick Chapter 4 and what did you think of it?

John Wick Chapter 4: The Best One Yet!!!

John Wick Chapter 4 picks up right where chapter 3 left off as John is on a mission to get out from under the table so he can live his life free, however as it’s a John Wick film nothing goes as plan.

I absolutely loved this film from start to finish, it was action scene after action scene while also having some very touching emotional moments. Obviously one of the sadder scenes was at the begging img if the film when Charon was shot dead, this was extra emotional due to the very sad passing of Lance Reddick and this scene just hit hard.

However a big talking point of this movie is going to be that ending!!! I don’t think anyone went in this film expecting John Wick himself to die at the end. It was a very beautiful moment as he was thinking of his wife and then just fell asleep on the stairs, it was all shot so perfect. The film ends with Winston and the Bowery King at his grave saying goodbye which also is quite an emotional punch. Nevertheless I still don’t actually believe that he is dead, especially as they have been talking about doing another film but just wanting a break , which is where the spin-offs come in. I have no doubt that at sometime in the future we will get another instalment especially with how well this was is performing, so that did knock the emotion a bit as I just didn’t quite believe it.

Moving onto the action scenes of this film, which to be honest is the majority of the film. The whole Paris sequence at the end of the movie is just perfection from the way it is shot, to the camera movements and to all of the stunt work involved. This shows more then ever that a stunt category is needed at the Oscars because this film deserves it.

My favourite action scene by far is the one that takes place on those stairs in Paris, as John fights his way to the top only to be kicked back down and you see him roll down all of those stairs. It was also very cool to see Donnie Yen’s character join him and help him get back to the top of those stairs, those two working together is a sight to behold.

Anyhow every single action sequence in this film is unique and has very memorable moments from the attack on the hotel, to the fight scene under the waterfall all the way to the abounded chayote in Paris where the camera films from above and makes it feel like a scene from a video game.

I was worried about the runtime going into this film as it was quite long compared to the previous instalments, however the time flew by and it didn’t feel like a nearly 3 hour film in any way.

The whole cast do a great job here. Obviously Keanu Raves has become an action legend at this point and smashes out of the park with the scenes and stunts here. It’s even more impressive that he did a massive 90% of his own stunts here. Nonetheless though the standout for me here was Donnie Yen who played the assassin Cain, he had a heartbreaking story as to why he was having to fight John and due to it being Donnie Yen his action scenes were impeccable and just left me wowed.

I would however like to give a special shout-out to dog as well in this film as he got a lot of reactions from the audience I was in. The biggest reaction by far was when the dog attacked the man in the shoes and then proceeded to urinate on his dead corpse. This franchise is known for always having great dog scenes and this one didn’t disappoint.

Chad Stahelski once again proves his absolutely incredible with action films and why Marvel or DC haven’t don’t acted him to do a film is beyond me because he does some of the best action scenes I have ever seen

Overall I absolutely loved this film and it is bay far my favourite in the franchise, from the action scenes to the beautiful locations. I would defiantly go and see this film on the biggest screen you can.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Ep4 Breakdown- [Spoiler] saved Grogu from Order 66!!!

We are already halfway through season 3 of The Mandalorian but today we finally found out who save Grogu and it was very heart warming.

In todays episode we got to see more of Grogu’s back story relating to him escaping the Jedi temple during Order 66. We find out a new Jedi saved him and took him from Coruscant. However that Jedi was played by Ahmed Best who played the infamous Jar Jar Binks in the prequel trilogy. It was so nice seeing him here playing a badass Jedi as he got a lot of hate during the prequels and even considered suicide during that time, which is just awful. However since then he has continued to love Star Wars so the fact Jon Favro managed to bring him back as a Jedi juts made me really happy and they gave him a significant role as the Jedi that saved Grogu. I’m expecting we will see more flashbacks of the tow of them in the future and I’m very excited.

The rest of the episode focuses on training Grogu in the Mandalorian ways and them rescuing a child from a beast that took him. However one of the most interesting things here was how during the mission how Bo Katan became the leader of that group and I think in fact they are positioning her to take over the group so she can retake Mandalore. I also think she wants Grogu in her side which is why she is overly nice to him this episode when he is training.

There are some great chase sequences again, as we had the Mandalorians chase after that child threw the air which was nice and then we had the thrilling chase sequence through Coruscant. However my one problem with this is that it’s staring to feel a bit formulaic by having chase scenes in nearly every episode. I feel they should try and shake the action up a bit more in different ways.

The episode ended with Bo Katan revealing to the armourer that she saw a Mythosaur on Mandalore however she isnt beloved and is told it’s just a vision. I have a feeling we are going to see Bo go and prove that there is one alive and that is how she is going to become the new leader once again.

What did you think of the episode and how do you feel seeing Ahmed Best return to the franchise as a Jedi?

Netflix Charts: Shadow and Bone makes a solid debut but You continues to dominate!!!

The Netflix charts for the week of March 13-19 has been released.

Shadow and Bone debuted this week with its second season and came in at second place with over 50 million hours watched. This is a solid debut however isn’t strong meaning it’s nit guaranteed another season. One of the things that hurt season 2 was the 2 year break between seasons with general audiences forgetting about the show and some not being able to get back into it. This is a problem becoming more prominent in TV has seasons are being spread out over more then a year. I’m nervous for Sweet Tooth Season 2 which has also had the same gap as Shadow and Bone as these long gaps damaged these show unless they are super popular like Outer Banks or Ginny and Georgia.

As for You that continues to dominate at 1st place with 64 million hours watched. This is most defiantly getting another season however I have a feeling it will be its last based on things that have been said about it.

Sex/Life has fallen to the bottom of its chart in just three weeks and with soft debut numbers another season isn’t looking that good. Outer Banks season 3 is still doing good in its fourth week coming it at number 4, plus we know another season of that is already on its way.

Now moving onto films Luther Fallen Sun stayed on top but actually went up in viewership from its first week from 65 to 69 million hours watched. There is flakey something here for this franchise and I wouldn’t be surprised if more is done with this in the future.

For the rest of the chart the new animated movie the Magicians Elephant premiered with soft numbers for the service, so we will have to wait to see if that gets any traction in the coming weeks. However The Hunger Game franchise continues to do strong over here which is a good sign for the prequel coming later this year.

That is it for this weeks chart, what did you watch this past week on Netflix?

Nielsen Charts: You and New Amsterdam continue to dominate!!!

The Nielsen charts for the week of February 13-19 have been released!!!

Not much has changed from the past week on this chart. You continued to dominate at the top of the overall chart. This shows the strength of this show and it should stay strong for a while with Netflix having split the season into two parts. A season 5 looks very likely and that also seems to be looking like the final.

New Amsterdam also continues to do really strong business on both Netflix and Peacock and shows the untouched audience of network Tv on streaming. The Last Of Us also continues to do strong business on HBO Max. It was revealed the other day that total viewership has surpassed season 1 of House Of the Dragon and it will be interesting to see how big the second season becomes.

Over on the film category Your Place or mine ruled the chart during valentine week. The Woman King also debuted on Netflix and came it at number 2 on the chart, which is a deserved win for that film, which I highly recommend. Black Panther Wakanda Forever is also still doing good business on Disney Plus.

That’s it for this weeks chart, what did you watch?
