Wow what a way to end the episode. Moon knight has already been up to this point a complex mystery but with the addition of what happened in this episode it has become much more complex.
The twist at the end of this episode finds mark wake up in a mental institution, with clues all around him referencing the previous episodes. This twist puts into doubt everything we have seen from the series as it questions weather any of it was real or if it was all just made up in Marks head. This changes the whole dynamic of the show now as it changes the perspective on what us as the audience thinks is going on and puts us in a position where we are just as confused as Mark and Steven.
Now if we go back to the start of this episode this was one of the darkest things I have seen come from the MCU, which gives me hope for the future of Daredevil and the rest of the defences for if they are brought back. The whole scene with Layla and that creature was just fantastic and just showed what a badass she really is.
We also can’t discuss this show without talking about the acting. The acting by everyone in this show is just amazing. May Calamawy really showed the fear and made all her action scenes really believable. Then you have Oscar Issac who just can now seamlessly change between Mark and Steven. The seven that stood out the most though however was when Ethan Hawke was playing the three oasis near the end of the episode and the voting between himself and Oscar Issac was just phenomenal. I see lots of Emmy nominations for this shows future.
Overall this episode may be my favourite of the season or is at least up there with the first. The last 2 episodes are going to have to do a lot to wrap up this season but I am excited.
Everything Everywhere All At Once has finally been given a UK release date and that is the 13 May. The film has had critical acclaim holding a rare 97% on rotten tomatoes and has been carrying great buzz by those who have gone to seen the film. UK moviegoers have become increasing frustrated by the lack of a UK release date for the movie, but the Daniels officially announced it earlier today. This means that the film will be officially released in just over 2 weeks time in the UK. Interestingly the film will release just a week after Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness, with both films containing the multiverse as a big part of their movie. It will be interesting to see how Everything Everywhere All At Once will hold up in the UK against Doctor Strange as in the US it will have had about a month before it releases. For those in the UK will you be going to see this in cinema or will you mow wit until it hits digital in the coming months.
Turning Red is Pixar’s most unique film to date. It has a very unique animation style which is more akin to anime compared to the traditional Pixar and Disney animation style. This helps this film feel more different and unique as it visually stands out from other animation pictures in the past.
This is director Domee Shi’s first feature film and based on how well this film was constructed and put together I would say she has a very bright future as a director. The story feels quite personal and tells a real and compelling story about growing up and how that can affect your relationship with your parents. It also highlights the pressure of trying to be this perfect kid, while also wanting to be herself in her own way.
This film is also Pixar’s most edgiest film as it discusses puberty and the struggles teens actually go through while growing up. It’s a true coming of age film for early teens and how quick things can change.
The voice acting is so great in this film. Rosalie Chang does a fantastic job voicing Mei as she can play this strong confident girl but can also play those perfect emotional moments as well. Also as no surprise Sandra Oh does a fantastic job as the mom as well really bring out the emotion of that character.
With this film being on Disney Plus you have no excuse not to sit down and watch this film. It’s so unique and charming, it’s one of Pixar’s best films yet.

Batman has returned!!! Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinsons The Batman has become the second biggest opening of the pandemic era. The Batman opened to a huge $128.5 million and is also only the second film to open above the $100 million during the pandemic era. The film is also a strong performer oversees where it opens in 75 markets and collected another $120 million. In its first weekend The Batman has made a worldwide total of $248 million.
The strong opening for The Batman is also very good for Warner Brothers who struggled at the box office due to there day and date debut on HBO Max.last year. The results of this clearly show theatrical release alone is still the way to go. It also shows that for big enough movies people are willing to go back to the theatre to see them.
This film was most helped by younger male moviegoers, with over 65% being male and 60% being between 18-34, showing that older moviegoers are still reluctant to head back to the multiplex. The Batman does only have china left to go though as it did open in all international markets except for Russia, where it was pulled in support of Ukraine.
The rest of the box office wasn’t that impressive though as everyone went out to see The Batman. Coming in at number 2 was Uncharted which made $11 Million but has now managed to cross $100 million domestically making it one of the few films in the pandemic to do so. Dog came in at number 3 making $6 Million and is now at $40 million domestic. Spider-Man No Way Home($4.4M) and Death on The Nile($2.7M) round up the top 5.
Nothing major is opening up next week against The Batman, so we will see how big the second week drop is to real see how much money this film can make and to see if it has a chance of joining the billion dollar club.
The Batman is the best Batman film ever made!!!! Matt Reeves manages to capture the comic books perfectly, while also grounding this film in reality like no other film has done before.
The story is complex with an intriguing mystery which isn’t difficult to follow along, but still manages to have a lot of twits that you don’t see coming. It also manages shows the complexity of Batman like no film has done before. This iteration of the character really builds him up to be quite a troubled person with him spending the majority of the movie as Batman with little time actually spent on him being Bruce Wayne. This captures how the mask is actually Bruce and how his true face is at Batman.
The acting is phenonmal in this film with every single actor pulling of a great performance. Robert Pattinson is the perfect Batam especially with how he can convey emotions just through his eyes and the movement of his body. I wouldn’t say he is the best Bruce Wayne yet but that is more to do with the fact we don’t get to see enough of Robert Pattinsons Bruce in this movie. Zoë Kravitz is also stunning as Selena Kyle as she is so fierce and determined and she pulls off her actions sequences perfectly. I really hope to see that HBO Max show they have been disscussing. Jeffery Wright is Jim Gordon, he was just born for this role and you really see a strong partnership between himself and Batman which is perfect for the characters. Collin Farrell transforms as the penguin, there is no way you would know that it was him as he completely transforms into a different person and gives an outstanding performance.
The only real problem i have in the movie is that by the third act you can start to feel that nearly three hour runtime, however at the same time I’m not sure what could be cut from the movie.
The Cinematography and direction is just absolutely stunning and they are really able to capture the essence of Gotham from the comic books to show how quite scary and lawless living in Gotham would actually be.
Overall this is a fantastic Batman film and by far the best one made to date. Even if you aren’t into batman I recommend seeing this film as it plays more like a crime noir then an tradition comic book film .
Tom Holland is still on his winning streak, as Uncharchetd remained at the top of the box office this weekend. The film managed to bring in another $23.2 million, which is only a 46% drop which is really good as most films in the pandemic have been dropping in the 60s and 70s. This clearly shows that moviegoing is slowly returning. The film is also doing very strong business internationally bringing in another $58.3 million over the weekend, proving that this is building to be a strong new franchise for Sony and Holland.
The Channing Tatum led film Dog also stayed at number 2 this weekend bringing in an impressive $10.1 million, meaning it is doing a lot better then was anticipated. Rounding off the top 3 is Hollands other big hit Spider-Man No way Home as it brought in another $5.9 million as is close to catching $800 million domestic. However the numbers for Spidey will most likely fall now as it has just been announced to be coming to digital on March 22. Death and the Nile and Jackass Forever was also steady at 4 and 5, with the first grossing $4.5 million and Jackass bringing in another $3.1 million.
Now moving over to the Nielsen chart for the week of 24 January. Ozark stayed strong at number 1 breaking a record and claiming the Nielsen crown with 4.1 Billion minutes of the show streamed. The Book of Boba Fett jumped from 5 to number 2 on the charts, with the return of the Mandalorian as the focus.
Over to movies where Encanto really is a big hit for Disney as it sprang another week atop of the charts. Home Team and Ice Age Adele years of buck wild debuting strong at number 2 and 3 respectfully.
Looking at the global charts for Netflix the week beginning February 14th. In films the Tinder Swindler stayed at number 1 proving a big hit for the service, with the Texas Chainsaw massacre debuting at number 2. In TV, inventing Anna proved to be more appointment television staying strong at number 1. Love is Blind season 2 and Sweet Magnolias season 2 both are still doing strong business coming in at number 2 and 3.
Tom Holland has once again reclaimed the top spot at the box office, but this time with uncharted. It was predicted to open with $30 million this weekend but has over performed bringing in $44.2 million for the three day weekend and is on course to make $51 million over the 4 day holiday weekend. This is a big win for Sony as it clearly shows that Tom Holland is a strong movie star as the film had weak reviews, however the film still managed to have a strong opening. This film is also the biggest opening since Hollands previous success SpiderMan No Way Home which premiered in December. Tom Holland helped bring in the young audience with ticket buyers being 71% under 35. However the audience did lean more male with more than 60%. The film also made $55.4 million oversees brining the global total to $106.4 million globally.
The Channing Tatum movie Dog came in second with $18.1 for the 4 day weekend, which much like uncharted was above its predicted gross. Rounding off the top 3 is SpiderMan No Way Home bringing in $8.8 million for the holiday weekend. This means that Tom Holland has 2 of the top 3 domestic movies this weekend. Death at the Nile came in at number 4, with Jackass Forever rounding at the top 5.
Now over to Nielsen for the week starting 17th January Ozark season 4 premiered first with an impressive 2904 minutes, followed by the debut of new series Archive 81. The Book of Boba Fett also remains steady in its 4th week at number 5. Encanto and Hotel Transylvania 4 stay strong at number 1 and 2, with Eternals debuting at number 3 on Disney plus.
Now finally over to Netflix’s global top 10 for the week of February 7. In movies the Tinder Swindler stayed strong at number 1 and Tall Girl 2 premiered at second with 27440000 hours viewed. Over to shows Shondalands newest show Inventing Anna also proved a hit for Netflix debuting at number 1, with Love is Blind Season 2 debuting at 7. However Sweet Magnolias Season 2 has jumped in its second week to the number 2 spot on the charts, showing that it is quite popular after all.
Stranger things season 4 officially has a release date!!!!! It will release on May 27!!!!!! However season 4 will be a supersized season and will be split into two volumes, with the second one premiering on July 1.
Netflix has also renewed the show for a fifth and final season, meaning they will now be laying the ground for the final season in the upcoming season, no release date has been given for the fifth season.
Yesterday, Paramount had an investor meeting discussing Pramaount plus and talking about its future. They had a lot of announcements so I’m going to break it all down here.
Starting off the presentation they announced that Halo was being given the green light for a second season. This shows that they have tremendous faith in the show as it isn’t cheap to make. The first season premiers on March 24.
They also announced that starting in 2024, paramount plus will be the exclusive streaming home for all of their theatrical movies. This is most likely due to existing contracts preventing them form having it all on the service now.
A returning franchise is Transformers, with the next instalment in the franchise being released theatrically next year and will be the start of a new trilogy. There will also be a new animated series form Nickelodeon streaming this fall, then in 2024 a full CG animated theatrical film will be released. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is officially in development, with the second film releasing theatrically later this year. Also there will be a brand new spinoff show for the service centring around Knuckles, who is voiced by Idris Elba. The previously announced spinoff is due to release theatrically next year. John Krasinski also announce the third instalment of the main films releasing theatrically in 2025. There is no director announced but it is safe to assume John will be back to direct.
One of paramounts biggest franchise is SpongeBob SquarePants and they announced three new character driven movies exclusively for the service along with a big theatrical movie also in the works.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is also making a big comeback starting in 2023, with a new theatrical movie from Seth Rogan, which promises to be the classic turtles everyone loves. That will be followed by a series of villain driven films exclusively for Paramount Plus.
They also emphasised about how much entertainment they were producing for kids. They have a new series Big Nate and of course more Paw Patrol with a new theatrical Movie and a spin off show. They also announced a new Blue Clues movie along with a Baby Shark movie releasing on the service in 2023. Dora the Explorer is also returning in a big way with and new animated show for younger audiences and a new live action show for older audiences, much like the previous film. Here you can see them gong after the young audiences which have helped Disney plus a lot with gaining subscribers.
They are also focusing a lot on the young adult audience, with ICarly being one of the services biggest shows, with season 2 coming later this year. They also announced the cast for the Teen Wolf movie, with the majority of the original cast returning. This will set up a new series called Wolf Pack exclusively for this service.
One of the services biggest pulls is the Star Treck franchise, with all shows renewed for more seasons. They also stated that strange New Worlds will release on May 5. It was also announced a fourth film will happen with Chris Pine and the rest of the cast likely to return and is aiming to start filming by the end of the year.
They have also made two CBS shows Paramount Plus originals, these being Evil and Seal Team and have been very popular on the service. They are also producing a Seal Team movie event exclusive to the service.
They also doubled down on their reality TV shows with the expansion of the Shore franchise and the global completion series the challenge.
They made several announcements relating to South Park, with their being two special events each year for the next 6 years. New series episodes will stream first on paramount Plus from 2024 and the full series catalog will be there internationally from 2022 and in the US in 2025, when the HBO Max deal expires.
There last big announcement was the expansion of the Yellowstone franchise and 5 big cinematic series coming from Taylor Sheridan all exclusive to this service.
Paramount Plus have made a big splash with these announcements and are turning this service into a must have a bringing it into competition with Netflix and Disney Plus.
