The season 3 Mandalorian finale has arrived and surprisingly it was a very wholesome episode which some great action scenes.
This episode finally did what we have been promised all season and that is that the Mandalorians finally recaptured Mandalore. This has been being teased even before the season started and we finally saw that come to fruition.
Rick Famuyiwa directed this episode and just the same as last weeks episode the actions scenes were fantastic. The majority of this epsidoe was filled with action sequences but they were all great in their own way, as Rick is really good at delivering big action sequences.

My favourite one by far was the one at the end where Din, Bo and Grogu teamed up to take down Moff Gideon. Seeing them all fight in unison and to see both Din and Bo keep jumping in the way of Grogu to protect him was honestly so wholesome. You also had that amazing last shot in the sequence of Grogu using the force to create a type of bubble to protect them all from the explosion. The family dynamic created by these three this season has been one of the highlights and I hope we don’t lose that going into season 4, as it seems they are going their seperate ways.

However another great scene was seeing the Mandalorian air battle where you had Bo Katan lead the charge with the Darksaber and take on the imperials. It was nice to actually get to see the Darksaber in action as even though its been around since season 1 it is hardly ever used in the battles. It was sad to see it destroyed by Moff Gideon in this episode but I’m hoping they will be able to fix it some how because it is a great weapon and has a lot of history in the Star Wars universe.

This finale also saw the downfall of Moff Gideon as he was killed in the explosion. However i do think he can return in the future as they called set up he has cloned himself and although the clones on Mandalore was destroyed that’s doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any more somewhere else. Also i think its clear we are moving away from Moff Gideon anyway and moving onto Thrawn being the big bad of the whole Mando universe, so if Moff really is gone then that would make sense to transition Thrawn in now, which they are doing with Ahsoka.

The highlight of this episode for me was the whole relationship between Din and Grogu. Throughout the whole show their relationship has been integral but it all seems to come to a head here. We get to see both Din and Grogu put themselves in damages to protect each other. I especially loved the fight between them and the Petronius Guards where Grogu helped Din by flinging them across the room using the force.

The show ended on a really wholesome note which i was surprised about because i was expecting our hearts to be ripped out by the end. Instead Din finally adopted Grogu as his own to become Din Grogu and now they really are the perfect family. However i was half expecting a post credit scene announcing a Bo Katan spinoff show as the ending kind of set up her mission to rebuild Mandalore to what is was while Din and Grogu adventure across the Galaxy in season 4.

Speaking of season 4 it looks like we know what direction that will be going in and it looks like its going back to basics. This season really pushed Din into the background to focus on the Mandalorians as a whole. Season 4 looks to be shifting the focus back onto Din and Grogu as they travel the galaxy helping the New Republic, while Din trains Grogu to become a Mandalorian.

Now the waiting game begins to see how the overall strong continues in Ahsoka this august. What did you think of the finale and with it looking like they are going back to basics with season 4 are you excited for that?
