Nielsen Top 10: Thor Love and Thunder debuts at No 1 and House of the Dragon catches up to Rings of Power.

The Nielsen top 10 has been released for the week of September 5-11.

Starting with movies Thor love and thunder debuted on Disney Plus this week for Disney plus day and shot to number 1 with 1500 million minutes . This is a win for the film after its mixed reception and lesser box office then Ragnorok. This shows that plenty of people still checked into the film once it hit the streaming service.

Speaking of Disney Plus day an Disney original movie also hit he streaming service that day and also debuted with string numbers for that service. Pinocchio came in second on the chart with 930 million minutes for the film. This is very good fir the film considering it was hit with negative reviews from critics and didn’t have very good word of mouth from audiences. This shows that no matter the reviews family’s are still willing to check out Disney’s live action remakes.

For the rest of the top 10, Morbius did okay numbers debuting at number 3 with 610 million minutes and Elvis in its second weekend on HBO max also stayed steady in the middle of the pack with 400 million minutes watched.

Moving over to the originals Cobra Kai jumped to the number 1 spot on the chat with its fifth season debuting with 1737 million minutes, showing that this series is still going strong and shows why Sony wants to capitalise on this with a new karate Kid film. With its third episode Rings of Power fell to third place but still has very strong numbers, which explains why amazon have already gone into production on season 2.

Also with its fourth episode She Hulk has gone up again on the charts and now sits comfortably at number 5 on the charts with 493 million minutes. It will be very interesting to see where the most recent episode will land as it reintroduced Daredevil into the MCU. The crown also popped into the top 10 at number 7, with the announcement of the Queen’s death.

Finally looking at the acquired series, House of the Dragon shot to number 1 with its 4th episode, clocking in at 1016 million minutes. This has brought it very close to the rings of power. However the advantage HOTD has is that this list only covers the views on HBO Max and not the viewers that watch through HBO, so we don’t actually get a full picture of the amount of viewers the show has through this list.
