SheHulk Premier review- Bring on the Hulks!

SheHulk premiered today with its first episode and brings a new taste to the MCU with its first proper 30 minute style comedy. This style of TV fits in very well with this character in particular as she breaks the fourth wall and talks with the audience. This adds a unique layer to the show as it helps it stand out from the rest of the Disney Plus shows.

Tatiana Maslany is another win for Marvel in the casting department as she is a perfect fit as Jenifer Walters, aka the SheHulk. She is espy lay good at the comedy aspect and brings a certain sass to the SheHulk character which makes her different enough to Hulk so she seems like her own separate character. Also her and Mark Ruffalo have the perfect chemistry together and it genuinely seems that they are related.

Now the VFX has been a strong talking point for this show, not just for how SheHulk looks but the controversy Marvel has come under as a whole. However, the majority of the CG in the first episode is actually really quite good and doesn’t stand out at all. She looks as good as the Hulk does. Plus even when it does look wonky from time to time Tatiana Maslanys performance is that good you don’t really notice it.

It was also interesting to dive into the Hulk world more as well as we haven’t been able to do that due to the film rights. This also had nice ties into the wider MCU with defences to both Tony and Steve, the latter being very fun.

Overall I was very pleasantly surprised with their first episode and am excited to see what else this show has in store for us and am interested in what the overall story will be as this was mainly an origin episode.
