Top Gun Maverick is still doing very strong business at the box office as this weekend the film official crossed $1 billion at the box office. It has now passed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to become the highest grossing movie at the box office this year. It is also only the second move of the Coronavirus Pandemic era to pass $1 billion at the box office behind Spider-Man No Way Home which released in theatres last December.
However in very unusual events both Elvis and Top Gun have tied at the box office at number 1, bringing in $30.5 million over the weekend. This shows that the theatre industry is finally getting as strong as it was pre pandemic as it looks like those older audiences who have been reluctant to return have for both Top Gun and Elvis.
Jurassic World Dominion is still doing good business at the box office as it brought in an estimated $26 million this weekend slightly less then Fallen World but is still a respectable amount. This should put the film tomorrow at around $750 million worldwide which is very good considering the terrible reviews it got, proving that inserts in the franchise is still high.
However with some not good news for Disney and Pixar Lightyear fell a massive 74% this past weekend and in only it’s second weekend only managed to pick up another $17 million. This is defiantly not what Disney was hoping for as it is a spinoff from Pixar’s most successful franchise Toy Story.
