Yesterday, Paramount had an investor meeting discussing Pramaount plus and talking about its future. They had a lot of announcements so I’m going to break it all down here.
Starting off the presentation they announced that Halo was being given the green light for a second season. This shows that they have tremendous faith in the show as it isn’t cheap to make. The first season premiers on March 24.

They also announced that starting in 2024, paramount plus will be the exclusive streaming home for all of their theatrical movies. This is most likely due to existing contracts preventing them form having it all on the service now.
A returning franchise is Transformers, with the next instalment in the franchise being released theatrically next year and will be the start of a new trilogy. There will also be a new animated series form Nickelodeon streaming this fall, then in 2024 a full CG animated theatrical film will be released. You can see they are really going full force with this franchise as it is one of their most popular.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is officially in development, with the second film releasing theatrically later this year. Also there will be a brand new spinoff show for the service centring around Knuckles, who is voiced by Idris Elba. Paramount is clearly trying to build on the popularity of this franchise by having an expanding universe built around it.

A Quiet Place is also turning into quite a successful franchise for them as the second film was the most popular film on the service last year. The previously announced spinoff is due to release theatrically next year. John Krasinski also announce the third instalment of the main films releasing theatrically in 2025. There is no director announced but it is safe to assume John will be back to direct.

One of paramounts biggest franchise is SpongeBob SquarePants and they announced three new character driven movies exclusively for the service along with a big theatrical movie also in the works.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is also making a big comeback starting in 2023, with a new theatrical movie from Seth Rogan, which promises to be the classic turtles everyone loves. That will be followed by a series of villain driven films exclusively for Paramount Plus.

They also emphasised about how much entertainment they were producing for kids. They have a new series Big Nate and of course more Paw Patrol with a new theatrical Movie and a spin off show. They also announced a new Blue Clues movie along with a Baby Shark movie releasing on the service in 2023. Dora the Explorer is also returning in a big way with and new animated show for younger audiences and a new live action show for older audiences, much like the previous film. Here you can see them gong after the young audiences which have helped Disney plus a lot with gaining subscribers.

They are also focusing a lot on the young adult audience, with ICarly being one of the services biggest shows, with season 2 coming later this year. They also announced the cast for the Teen Wolf movie, with the majority of the original cast returning. This will set up a new series called Wolf Pack exclusively for this service.

One of the services biggest pulls is the Star Treck franchise, with all shows renewed for more seasons. They also stated that strange New Worlds will release on May 5. It was also announced a fourth film will happen with Chris Pine and the rest of the cast likely to return and is aiming to start filming by the end of the year.

They have also made two CBS shows Paramount Plus originals, these being Evil and Seal Team and have been very popular on the service. They are also producing a Seal Team movie event exclusive to the service.
They also doubled down on their reality TV shows with the expansion of the Shore franchise and the global completion series the challenge.
They made several announcements relating to South Park, with their being two special events each year for the next 6 years. New series episodes will stream first on paramount Plus from 2024 and the full series catalog will be there internationally from 2022 and in the US in 2025, when the HBO Max deal expires.

There last big announcement was the expansion of the Yellowstone franchise and 5 big cinematic series coming from Taylor Sheridan all exclusive to this service.

Paramount Plus have made a big splash with these announcements and are turning this service into a must have a bringing it into competition with Netflix and Disney Plus.
